Roland and Sylvia joined us at the port city of Pointe a Pitre.
5 am, we are at the entrance Salt River, passing between two islands of Guadeloupe: Basse Terre and Grande Terre, connected by two bridges: the Alliance and Gabarre. Both are open in the morning at dawn to 30 minutes apart, movement of cars stopped for a few minutes, the time to let sailboats. Between the two bridges, twenty minutes navigating the maze of mangroves, guided only by the tags that operate at random .... both frightening and exhilarating, a little ghost ... .... to finally arrive in the "big ass duffel bag," also marked to pass between the islands. We are finally in the open sea towards Antigua, enjoying the sunrise. The weather has not improved and therefore, the wind is to go but the waves with a 3 meter swell.
ANTIGUA Arrival, customs formalities. We stay two days before heading out to BARBUDA. After 6 hours of sailing with a fair wind but still a sea stirred well, we can BARBUDA, wetting very windy and stormy, swimming is almost impossible given the current, about to dive or go down, we forget! !
result, we the next day to start again ANTIGUA, this time with the sea as rough but friendly. In short! A round trip for nothing but the consolation of a beautiful waterway.
Here we are back in Antigua in search of a quieter anchorage. En route, we passed CHAMALOU also looking where to "hide" exchange of drawings by VHF and we are quietly installed at the entrance FREEMAN BAY HARBOUR FRANÇAIS of the south coast. Sylvia and Roland take full advantage of the beach where they are going to swim with all their equipment (towels, books, .... cream) in our "coffin" floating.
FRANÇAIS HARBOUR is located just off Falmouth Harbour, a port very friendly, lively, very "British" Aponte where a multitude of beautiful full color sailboats and yachts on the occasion of "Superyacht Cup "currently taking place. From our anchorage, we follow the races.
Ballad ST JOHNS, the capital, allowing just fueling fresh market.
